Working beside Professor Daniel Sharfstein of the Vanderbilt Law School, I have been conducting independent research into the history of slavery in Nashville. I comb through various primary source collections, including newspapers from the 1800's and "runaway slave" advertisements and compile the data found onto a spreadsheet. This data will then be put onto a map of Nashville in order to create a fully formed picture of the impact of enslavement in Nashville. We hope to use the map to petition lawmakers to create monuments in significant places on the map that pertain to the slave experience in Nashville, and even form a walking tour so the people of Tennessee and the United States do not forget the vast impact that the institution of slavery had on millions of innocent lives.

I write as a columnist and staff writer for the Vanderbilt Hustler. Through my writing, I confront social justice issues and how they affect Vanderbilt's campus. Some issues I've written on include voter suppression, abortion laws, legalization of mairjuana, food insecurity, sexual health, and sexual assault.

The Yazidi Legal Network is a pro-bono network of lawyers and humanitarians fighting for justice for the victims of the Yazidi genocide. In this position, I was honored to connect with and work alongside the empowered professionals working to hold ISIS accountable for its ongoing genocide against the Yazidis. I learned from both the professionals and the Yazidi victims that are working towards accountability for ISIS and all of the parties that aided the genocide. Specifically, I worked on a congressional outreach project in order to bring forward a congressional hearing against the various social media companies that aided and abetted ISIS's genocide against the Yazidi people.

I am one of two Co-Service Chairs of Vanderbilt Prison Project. In this role, I help facilitate re-entry for those formerly incarcerated, mainly through hands-on volunteer work at the Dismas House. There, I teach tech classes to the residents as well as organizing and supervising community dinners at the house.

I interned for Open Arms while studying abroad in Rome, Italy during my junior year at Vanderbilt University. Open Arms is a humanitarian aid agency that focuses on search-and-rescue missions to save refugees traveling across the Mediterranean Sea. This journey is often fatal- thousands of migrants have died or disappeared while traveling this route in 2022 alone. Thanks to non-governmental organizations like Open Arms, thousands of refugees have been rescued. Beyond search and rescue missions, Open Arms also emphasizes the importance of awareness and education campaigns across Italy in order to ensure the protection of immigrant rights. During my internship, I constructed an in-depth report regarding the human rights abuses faced by refugees attempting to cross the Mediterranean Sea to mainland Europe and contrasted these abuses to the abuses faced by refugees crossing the U.S.-Mexico border

I am the Vice President of Public Service for Vanderbilt's Women in Government. In this role, I oversee a group of 13 women. Together, we collaborate to organize a variety of initiatives, including interview panels and education-based initiatives through social media. My committee pursues the overall goal of providing women in the Vanderbilt community with the skillset and tools to successfully run for and hold public office.
