Claire Flaherty, PhD, MS is an Associate Professor of Neurology and Clinical Neuropsychologist at the Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. She has 25 years of experience in clinical neuropsychological research including a multitude of clinical trials, as well as a decade of clinical research focused on gender differences in Frontotemporal Lobar Degeneration (FTLD), an early onset dementia that may affect judgment and behavior, as well as language and memory in later stages. She is currently Co-chair of the national North East Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis consortium (NEALS) fALS/FTD taskforce as well as a member of the Membership Committee of the International Society of Frontotemporal Dementias (ISFTD). Her clinical interests include a focus on temporal lobe epilepsy, including the long-term consequences of juvenile myoclonic epilepsy. Dr. Flaherty is board certified in clinical neuropsychology by the American Board of Professional Neuropsychology. She received her Ph.D. in clinical neuropsychology from the Union Institute and University, with her dissertation work focused on executive functioning and psychosocial functioning in temporal lobe epilepsy. She completed her Master of Science in clinical psychology from Millersville State University and her undergraduate degree in biology/chemistry from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, FL.
