Part of the Corporate Communications Branch, I am solely responsible for the PR of the Oldham Division, which involves working closely with Neighbourhood Policing Teams and senior police officers to generate positive media coverage and develop key messages for the community, staff and stakeholders. Supporting operational policing by delivering communications in line with GMP’s priorities, I also represent the division when dealing with the media, providing statements and guidance for stories.Responsibilities include:- Researching and writing press releases- Media relations - building key relationships with local newspapers, radio, TV and community websites and facilitating photocalls, interviews and filming opportunities- Producing and implementing communication strategies- Developing communication plans and reassurance messages for the community following incidents- Working with partner agencies including the local authority and third sector - Internal communications- Website maintenance and managing social media- Briefing designers and writing copy for newsletters, websites, leaflets, posters, advertorials etc- Communicating with hard-to-reach communities, including communities where English is not the first language- Writing reports- Event management, including launch events and award ceremonies

- Manager of a team of writers and editorial assistants in the publication of three monthly trade construction titles - Creator and writer of features, news and analysis, as well as sub-editing duties using Quark Xpress- Conducting interviews with industry leaders- Demonstrating a commercial understanding of business-to-business titles and working to continuous deadlines
