I researched and standardized generating technology capital cost assumptions for use in the Integrated Resource Plan. I also summarized underlying assumptions of commodity fundamental forecasts of the MISO region including power capacity additions/retirements, spark spreads, dark spreads, and the implied market heat rate for the department manager. Additionally, I analyzed Marion county's energy burden and rate affordability to inform senior executives during an open rate case.

I served as an operations problem solver for nine DCSEU energy efficiency programs. My job was to continually improve the way the company served our customers. I was the intermediary between program staff and the technology folks to find solutions to problems with our customer facing processes, internal workflow, and program reporting. My goal was to reduce variation among programs originally designed in silos.

I was the technical advocate on the Efficient Products and Commercial Rebate program team. Any time we launched a new program, my job was to make sure there was a system to provide decision makers quality data about participation rates, spending, energy savings and trends. In addition, I analyzed data and created forecasting models to gauge program performance. I also worked on a special project with the District of Columbia and DOE to leverage a multi-year commercial building benchmarking data set. We made the data accessible to account managers so they could engage customers and increase program participation.

I provided research and project support to the Engineer Manager and 11 energy consultants so they could calculate the impact of energy efficiency projects on DC’s large commercial buildings and universities.

Managed databases and conducted research for five energy consultants on HVAC and lighting products for projects with the District of Columbia’s large commercial buildings and universities.

Supported the Access Planner by using ArcGIS to map and identify possible barriers to pedestrian and bicycle access to Metrorail stations. Results posted on the Metro Planning Office’s PlanIt Metro blog

I analyzed return on investment of LED light installation in Metro Rail facilities in order to create an organization wide standard for LED lights. Attended regional sustainability meetings including Arlington Planning Sustainability Group, Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments Climate Energy Policy Committee, and Sustainable DC on behalf of Metro’s Sustainability Manager.

I produced a research paper on legislative options to reduce nutrient pollution in local water sources that was used to inform NC local elected officials and regional planners.
