About Claire Maclennan
Having studied Computing on and off since an early age at school, I am extremely competent when it comes to learning and adapting to new kinds of programs. With each course I have studied, there have been new programs brought in, whether they might be involved in creating databases, writing programs, image processing, email, along with countless other applications. Recently, I have completed coursework that involved surveying users of an application in order to gain feedback for the improvement of the application. The Computing and Sound Production courses that I have taken in the past have also given me experience when it comes to group meetings, often taking on leadership roles when it came to organising the group projects that these meetings revolved around. In addition, I have experience working with databases through the different classes I have taken in the past. Over the summer, I have volunteered at Scottish Natural Heritage, working closely with the leader of the Hebridean Mink Project. The work I was involved with was solely to do with data entry and analysis which I enjoyed and gave me an insight into work placement. Both this volunteer work and my previous employment have left me punctual and reliable, with a good sense of time keeping. As a volunteer, most of my work has been individual, working to set goals to complete data entry by the end of shifts. In Back Post Office, tasks vary from the shifts worked. Daytime hours involve multiple people working together to ensure both the shop and the post office are run smoothly, while evening shifts left me alone to manage stock, tills, and the shop itself. I have good communication skills which have been developed working with the public over the last five years, as well as within projects I have been involved with at university.
Listed skills include Teamwork, Sql, Customer Service, Time Management, and 21 others.

It & Telephony Lead
Support Analyst
I began my time working with NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde in 2015 as a Fixed Term Junior Support Analyst shortly after graduating from GCU. The role involved learning about the various systems and programs used by the staff of NHS GG&C and how to manage the problems they encounter in their everyday use. Within the position, I gained experience in solving problems relating to printing within TrakCare and Windows, the use of Dictation Devices by staff, issues within Clinical Portal, troubles with WardView screens within hospitals, among other smaller issues. The role also included analysing the problems that are presented to the team and triaging these to the most appropriate member of the team to solve them.Since 2017, I have been able to expand my skills in customer service by assisting in the rollouts of new software or additions to existing software through the GG&C area. In 2018 I was selected to assist in the rollout of a new way to complete Immediate Discharge Letters and so was able to go out on-site into hospitals to talk directly with the users that would be relying on this new update. In late 2019 I was given responsibility within my team for the support of the new Attend Anywhere/Near Me video call platform. This involved learning how to use the software, assisting in training my colleagues, liaising with new users, and communicating with third-party suppliers to assist in developing it for wider use. The various Microsoft Office applications were helpful in the rollout of this new application as I used Excel to keep track of what had been accomplished and Word to help write documentation for the use of both my team and guides for users. In March of 2020, the use of this application expanded greatly amid the coronavirus pandemic and I was able to assist different teams within NHS GG&C to set up hundreds of different video waiting areas for the use of GP surgeries across Glasgow along with the equipment they required to run the application.
Junior Support Analyst
In my current position as a Junior Support Analyst for NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, I have been involved with the day to day second-line support of the Acute-wide Applications and Women & Children's support team. The role has involved learning about the various systems and programs used by the staff of NHS GG&C and how to manage the problems they encounter in their everyday use.In one day, I can be involved with assisting the team manage a larger issue that might affect one or multiple sites within Greater Glasgow and Clyde by spending time talking with users of the systems on the phone. Contacting the users both helps the team gain information on the problems they are having with the systems, and gives us an opportunity to keep the users informed as to what steps are being taken to resolve these issues as soon as possible. On the same day, I could also be tackling problems users are experiencing that could be as simple as needing a printer set up for them, or a locked record within the TrakCare system unlocked.
Receptionist/Office Administrator
Working in Amhuinnsuidhe Castle, I am responsible for maintaining order in the office and ensuring day to day activities in the castle are performed efficiently. As part of the job, I check availability of rooms, take and manage bookings, handle both cash and credit transactions along with composing invoices and keeping track of payment status’ for each customer staying at the hotel. Along with this, I have been responsible for keeping track of employee’s timesheets and recording information into various documents. The majority of the work with these documents is performed on Microsoft Office systems – Word and Excel, though I am proficient in using more than these two Microsoft Office applications. My job gives me the opportunity to meet and greet each guest that stays in the castle.
Sales Assistant
Working as a sales assistant in Back Post Office, my role took on many different forms. During the day, the workload was shared between members of staff, requiring each of us to have the skills to work well as part of a team in order to ensure that the daily jobs were all completed on time while helping customers with any questions or assistance they might need. The evening shift brought out the complexities of managing the shop during quieter hours alone, teaching me how to manage time between serving customers, working the tills and monitoring/refilling stock at the same time.
Sales Assistant
Working in Woolworths was my first experience in a working environment. During my time in this position, I gained many skills that have helped me since I left this post. Duties:• Providing information to customers to help them select the best products.• Operating tills and dealing with payments (cash, card payments, cheques)• Keeping up-to-date with all current promotions within the store.• Identifying customers who need assistance on the shop floor.• Accurately processing all methods of payment.• Making sure the store is clean, tidy and safe at all times.• Teamwork.• Assisting customers in a polite and friendly manner.
