I have over 20 years’ experience in the field of pain management and have worked in various senior roles in the Neuromodulation Industry for over 11 years. I have experience working in education, clinical, marketing and sales management, both in European and UK roles. Until 2009, I worked as a Nurse Consultant in Pain Medicine at the Walton Centre, Liverpool; a regional centre for Neurology and Neurosurgery. In my early career, I spent 12 years as a nurse in the Royal Navy and deployed to the Arabian Gulf during the second Gulf War in 2003. In addition to managing the ship’s High Dependency Unit I provided specialist advice on pain issues for patients admitted to the Royal Navy’s Hospital Ship during the conflict.I was a consultee for the UK’s National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) Health Technology Appraisal on spinal cord stimulation in 2007 and in 2009 was a member of the NICE Guideline Development Group for Management of Neuropathic Pain. I completed a Master of Science Degree in Pain Management in 2006 and also qualified as a Nurse Independent Prescriber in the same year.In 2011, I undertook a Master Class lecture tour of Australia and New Zealand and lectured on pain management and neuromodulation in multiple cities over a 3 week period. I continue to provide sessions as a visiting lecturer on University courses in the United Kingdom and have been a peer-reviewer for the British Journal of Neurosurgery and the Nursing Times.
