I have owned the business since April 2001, upon my son leaving the "nest" for college in Chicago. I am also a Broker in Florida but my husband was transferred to St. Louis with his company. Upon getting my real estate license in Florida, I went with Coldwell Banker in Ponte Vedra Beach, which is a high end area where the TPC Golf Tournament is held annually at Sawgrass Golf Course (Tiger Woods made his first appearance there after his golf club beating from his, now, exwife) and ATP Tennis Tournaments are held. I was very successful in real estate, it came naturally for me and I enjoyed it immensely. The first year was a steep learning curve and I spent a great deal of time in class or being mentored experienced agents. The second year, I was the top producer for the office. After being a very busy real estate agent for 3 years and as required by the FREC, I also worked on getting my broker's license and was allowed to sit for the exam and passed 3 months before moving to St. Louis. I still maintain my broker's license in Florida by staying current with my continuing education.

Jacksonville, Florida

Corporate offices were relocated to Jacksonville, FL from Chicago with plants in St. Louis, Somerset, Ky, Knoxville, TN,Wheeling, WVA, Battlecreek, MI, Flint, MI and a paper mill in Quincey, IL. We also had a divisional office in downtown Chicago. We made paper at our mill and corrugated boxes at our box plants for large companies such as GM, Ford and others. I worked in the Jacksonville office during the 90's recession until we were sold to Stone Container. I then started a new career as a Real Estate Agent.

A large local interior design company (not a furniture store) with 19 designers/decorators. I worked with clients to decorate their homes with new furniture and accessories or redesign sometimes using some of their heirlooms or favorite chair,etc., new carpeting, hardwood floors, tile, window treatment, fabric and paint color selections. Created design ideas and presented to the client using displays, samples as well as accompanying them to various stores to find the right piece. Worked on a strict time schedule with the vendors, contractors and clients as well as a budget and made the space more beautiful and functional for the client. Besides having to be creative, this job entailed sales, persuasion, social skills, psychology, time management. project managment and financial skills.

Real estate development company with corporate offices in Philadelphia, PA. I was with the Florida division; we developed office parks in the burbs and Jacksonville's downtown river front with trendy shops, restaurants and a bustling harbor. Also we built very high-end tall office buildings downtown which formed Jacksonville's skyline and added visual interest as well as encouraging downtown renewal; also leased and maintained all of the office buildings that we built. Rouse & Associates has developed the harbors in downtown Baltimore, Wilmington, DE, Tampa, FL, Philadelphia, NY, London, England as well as built the first skyscrapers in Phildelphia and lots of development in all of the cities mentioned. The Florida office closed due to the change in the tax codes for commercial properties and apartments.
