The stories we hear as children shape what we achieve in life; many involve determination and success across continents. This is my story, abridged.➲ Europe ➲ A Tale of 2 Cities (ok 1 town, but stay with me)My career began in UK local government. Specialising in community development, I established myself as a respected leader, engaging stakeholders and achieving success through problem-solving.I addressed a national conference on community cohesion in schools. The national publication Children and Young People Now featured my work establishing locally funded youth provision and the UK Government endorsed my alcohol education programme Mocktail Apprentice.➲ Africa ➲ Doctor Livingstone, I presume?Seeking a new challenge, I moved to Swaziland and worked as NFP Programme Manager. As a successful project manager, I facilitated partnerships and managed relationships to implement solution-focused innovations, improving disadvantaged communities' outcomes. I introduced monitoring and evaluation as core functions and diversified funding.Through skilful mentoring, a Swazi colleague developed the necessary skills to supersede me; I became superfluous.Pivoting to the commercial sector, through my own company, I applied my skills to assist Swazi businesses, focusing on business analysis, participatory process mapping and change management.➲ Australia ➲ Great Expectations (not set here but still my outlook)Within days of landing, my proactive approach resulted in a receptionist job. I implemented business process improvements enhancing customer experience and operational efficiencies.Soon, I was working in an Accounts Payable capacity. Beyond my role's scope, I analysed business processes and documented new streamlined workflows. The finance director endorsed my ability to handle tightened working capital requirements triggered by Covid-19.I'm currently working as a Senior Accountant with Nine Advisory. The company's unique business advisory approach appealed, allowing me to use my creative intrapreneurial skills to assist businesses in growth and success.☏ Call to ActionAs a highly committed, self-motivated and professional individual with local government, NGO and commercial experience, I relish opportunities to bring immediate, operational and strategic benefit.I'm always looking to grow my personal and professional network, and I enjoy meeting people over a cup of tea!
