Founded in 1979, Favor & Co., a Lloyd’s of London Coverholder, helps businesses obtain insurance coverage. Favor & Co. has developed a specialized niche serving the insurance and risk management needs of student organizations, manufacturing businesses, non-profit associations, and tourist destinations. The Favor & Co. team provides its clients expert advice to proactively manage risk and decrease the frequency and severity of claims. As general counsel of Favor & Co., I serve as the company’s chief legal advisor, focusing on corporate governance and compliance and regulatory issues. I also advise clients on risk management policy, liability claim trends, and legal developments.

Direct the legal affairs of the advocacy-oriented trade organization that represents nearly 60 national organizations including social, business, leadership, faith-based, multi-cultural, minority, and emerging organizations. Provide counsel on a wide range of legal topics including risk management, housing, contracts, insurance, litigation, policy development, and governance. Lead the negotiation and drafting of a wide range of contractual agreements. Coordinate major litigation when multiple parties are involved; oversight of outside counsel in litigation and pre-litigation matters. Provide strategic guidance to the management team on topics such as human resources, personnel decisions, financial and business operations. Concurrently serve as NIC's chief legislative officer, with extensive involvement in state and federal anti-hazing legislation, as well as legislation related to First Amendment issues.

Manage the legal affairs of the national organization, coordinate insurance and incident reporting, monitor and advise outside counsel regarding pending litigation, provide legal counsel and business advice to the staff and board of directors. Broad experience handling personnel matters. Extensive interaction with the organization’s commercial liability insurance carrier and national insurance counsel. Served as corporate representative for depositions in many states. Have overseen organization’s open litigation reach a ten-year low, as well as a drastic reduction in frequency and severity of insurance claims. One of six members of the executive team, holding supervisory responsibilities and reporting directly to the executive director and to the board of directors. Previously served as Director of Risk Management (July 2013-April 2014) and Associate General Counsel (April 2014-December 2015). Concurrently served as Chief Operating Officer in 2017-2018, with direct reports including human resources, information technology, campus operations, educational programs, and special projects.
