Sr. Graphics Validation Engineer

Current

Santa Clara, California, Us

I joined Intel to work on the innovative concept of a SW programmable graphics architecture called "Larrabee". I designed a detailed test plan that included digital video quality, compliance, and fidelity using state-of-the-art analyzers and fixtures for automated measurements of video streams. When new silicon came to the lab, I would perform a full range of measurements to identify any electrical or link-layer issues and work with the HW and SW development teams to resolve. I also designed a power analyzer based on LabVIEW that can perform various types of power measurements for the PCIe device under test, and this was also used for compeditive power analysis.

May 2008 - Present

Sr. Hpc Validation Engineer

Santa Clara, California, Us

I am heading up internal validation of the new Intel® Xeon Phi™ Family of HPC products in the area of power efficency and cluster power/performance analysis. I have designed a power analyzer that can measure HPC PCIe card power in real-time and produce dazzling scope shots and statistics for validation and engineering. I am using the many years of high-speed test measurement equipement and compliance specifications to assemble a comprehensive test execution plan for the Intel VPG organization on the new Intel® Xeon Phi™ product . Using test automation to cover vast areas of functionality on this new design and database automation to share test results with key stakeholders.

May 2008 - Sep 2024

Sr. Applications Engineer

Santa Clara, Ca, Us

I joined NVIDIA to work on the original NV5, also known as the TNT graphics architecture. My main duties were in the area of HW validation around the memory interface and video output interface (VGA, DVI, HDMI) with new silicon designs. I would use a high-speed scope and/or analyzer to capture high-speed traces and measure detailed AC timing on both memory and video and report these to the silicon design team. By using a enviromental chamber (i.e. oven), I could observe worst-case timing and jitter and make recommedations to the board design team. I also was in charge of the original XBOX GPU validation plan, which included the front-side bus, DDR memory, Video, Power, SATA, USB, and other electrical interfaces on the console design and generated a comprehensive report for the organization.

Dec 1999 - Jul 2003

Sr. Engineering Technician Iii

Cupertino, California, Us

I was responsible for maintaining a world-class lab and supporting several engineers and architects on the Laser Printer Hardware engineering team. My roles included lab equipement maintainance, board level rework, working with Q.A. team and keeping all prototypes up to date and running. Also ran the enviromental chambers to stress the design over temperature and voltage. Products supported included the LaserWriter IIg, LaserWriter Pro series, and worlds first ink jet printer called the StyleWriter.
