I’ve been a professional problem solver ever since I as a 22 year old caterer restored a crushed 3-tiered wedding cake on a yacht two hours before the reception. And though I’ve swapped catering for a career in leadership, facilitation, coaching and communications, that undaunted energy and resourcefulness still drive and motivate me today. I’ve solved leadership challenges and created data-driven results in nearly every time zone for clients and organizations such as CARE International, CNN, Impinj, the Nature Conservancy, the United Nations, Northwest Harvest and the University of Washington. Whether it’s designing and applying large-scale or pilot strategies for multi-sector social change, developing high performance teams , driving values-based decision making in emerging tech, coaching CEO’s and executives or building eight figure program budgets and leading teams end-to-end, I thrive in contexts of ambiguity and smart risks. Experience working in watershed moments such as the Asian tsunami and China’s rise to the global stage are core threads in my career. This success is not only due to my years of working around the world in journalism, international development, consulting and higher education or building my own business from the ground up; I also have my personal background to thank for this clear-headed, empathy-based and even-handed approach. Growing up in a Chinese-German household set the stage for me become an intercultural leader, facilitator, and communicator to help teams see and build their shared purpose and goals. My background in conflict resolution also comes in handy when things get complex with diverse and high-performing teams.
