As Head of Pure Product Development I have the overall responsibility for the development of Elsevier’s Research Information Management System called Pure. This includes maintaining the roadmap, commercial aspects, manage the relationship to internal stakeholders such as sales and marketing, user engagement and both building and managing the Product Development team.In managing the Pure roadmap I have the overall responsibility for creating, maintaining and delivering towards the roadmap for Pure. This includes gatering requirements for the roadmap by engaging with customers, internal stakeholders such as sales and marketing as well as adhering to the strategical goals of Elsevier. Based on these I make sure that we at all times both have a current roadmap as well as thoroughly prepared candidate list.Being the manager of the Pure Product Development team it is my responsibility to both handle the day to day management of the team as well as continously ensure that the team is build to be able to meet the requirements that is posed to them. This have resulted in a cross functional team consisting of Product Managers, UX Designers, Technical Team Leads, Developers, Technical Writers and QA Engineers.While the bulk of the members of the team are located in Aalborg, the team is distributed with team members in Edinburgh, Amsterdam and New York.I am furthermore working closely with the marketing team in creating marketing materials for Pure, both targeted internal Elsevier employees as well as current and potential customers. Finally I am working closely with sales, both in supporting them on concrete sales cases, providing general support on Pure as well as gathering feedback from the market.Finally I maintain a close relationship with the Pure customer community. This happens through direct contact with customers and by participating at the Pure International Conference as well as individual national Pure user groups, of which I have helped launch several.
