I served as the Lead Design Engineer for the company specializing in medical devices for athletic recovery. The company was founded by the parent company SCR Development Group with the task of creating a portable, wearable, liquid cooling and compression recovery system. I was responsible for creating and testing all prototype designs of the system, refining them based on professional feedback, and introducing the product to the athletic market worldwide. I worked closely with some of the top doctors and trainers around the world to advise me on how to better develop this technology for their athletes. I helped build a network of industrial designers, manufacturers and fulfillment centers in the US and Europe for the large scale production and distribution of the device. After bringing the product to market I traveled internationally to demo and sell the product at various athletic events and facilities. I served as a Research Bioengineer at an incubator that housed multiple start-up companies.I was responsible for testing and documenting heart assist devices and implantation procedures to help secure grant funding for our company. I created digital models of ventricular assist devices using SolidWorks and AutoCAD, and then used those models to help design plastic cannulas for fast and secure surgical attachment. I took part in multi-week animal trials recording and monitoring device performance. I was also responsible for aiding in development of other medical projects such as artificial valve replacement and clot removal devices. At the start of 2014 I began work on a new project created by SCR called Aquilo Sports. While I continued work on a few of the SCR medical projects, I eventually focused 100% of my engineering efforts on the Aquilo project to help bring it to market.

I spent 6 months with MedVenture during a cooperative internship as a part of my studies at the University of Louisville. During my time there I served as a quality control bioengineer working in the ISO Class 7 and Class 8 cleanrooms. I performed daily quality inspection on Edward’s femoral catheter production line, performed time studies on multiple medical device production lines to increase daily quantities, and created operation protocols for automated catheter coating machinery on new production lines. It was an extremely great opportunity to combine my biomedical course work with a more industrial medical device operation.
