Research And Evaluation Strategist

Current

Portland, Oregon, United States

Oct 2021 - Present

Research, Evaluation, And Impacts Manager

In my position as RE&I Manager, I have been given the opportunity to provide conceptual guidance and leadership for the Research and Evaluation subdivision in collaboration with the Director of Engagement Research and Advancement, Marcie Benne. In this position, I have the wonderful job of charting a course for our team, managing existing resources and seeking out new opportunities for funding and study, and working with leaders across the museum on the positioning and integration of Research and Evaluation. I am also grateful to manage, support, and learn from our division's R&E Associates and to continue to supervise and mentor the division's on-call flex staff of R&E Assistants and plan for the eventual restructuring of our volunteer team. I regularly field staffing requests from internal and external staff and partners and track and balance regular and flex staff workload to meet the varying needs of active projects. The position also includes requisition of R&E Associate, Junior R&E Associate, and R&E Assistant position postings, leading interviews, managing the hiring process, and performing onboarding and orientation of new flex staff and volunteer team members. I also continue to support in the recruitment, hiring, supervision and training of other staff as designated, including those within our division (e.g., R&E Strategists) and those in other divisions and departments across the museum, and facilitating communication between direct reports and other division staff. In addition to these welcome duties, I continued to provide high-level oversight and ensure the integrity of research and evaluation activities on current projects as needed, including management of project budgets and timelines, development of research and evaluation plans, design of protocols and instruments, and coordination and execution of research and evaluation activities (e.g., literature reviews, data collection, data analysis, interpretation, reporting, and dissemination).

The position also included requisition of R&E Assistant position postings, leading interviews, managing the hiring process, and performing onboarding and orientation of new flex staff and volunteer team members. I also had the pleasure of supporting in the recruitment, hiring, supervision and training of other division staff as designated, including Assistants, Junior Research and Evaluation Associates, and Research and Evaluation Associates, and facilitating communication between supervisees and other division staff. In addition to these welcome duties, I continued to lead evaluation activities on current projects as needed, including management of project budgets and timelines, development of evaluation plans, design of evaluation protocols and instruments, and coordination and execution of evaluation activities (e.g., literature reviews, data collection, data analysis, interpretation, reporting, and dissemination).
