I work for Lincoln Electric (LE), the world leader in the production of welding equipment, consumables, cutting solutions, automation of welding, and large-scale additive manufacturing. I advise LE on all of these topics from the perspective of a structural engineer and work with our customers to assist them with the structural applications of our products. I specialize in the design of welded connections, with a particular interest in helping our customers achieve economy of design and avoid problems related to fabrication, welding distortion, and fatigue (low and high-cycle). Additionally, I serve on many AISC, AWS, and University committees and working groups with a focus on improving code provisions related to welding and advancement of technology. I am an AWS qualified welder and Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), and a registered Professional Engineer (PE) and Structural Engineer (SE) in the state of California.My experience prior to Lincoln Electric includes a 25+ year career in the private sector and military in design, construction, project management, education, and leadership. I served as an Army engineer for two combat tours, one year in Afghanistan and one year in Iraq. Also, I taught structural engineering courses as an Assistant Professor at West Point.
