Whilst not an official role, this is a position that I filled whilst concurrently filling my primary roles. This role was primarily focused on Microsoft licensing, but expanded into other products as necessary. That position was only established when I took ownership of this responsibility. Some key responsibilities were:• Implement capabilities to report on the license position of key Microsoft products.• Work with all elements of the organisation to understand system usage and license requirements.• Advise and direct technical teams as to the license requirements and/or remediation activities that needed to be undertaken.• Significant involvement in the 3 yearly, Microsoft ELP.• Began establishing a team of SAM support staff.• Work with third-party license support vendors.• Train and mentor staff regarding licensing requirements.• Support a third party organisation who would produce regular, half-yearly Enterprise License Position statements. • Provide guidance to groups seeking to acquire software licenses.• Promote the use of Software Assurance Benefits.My greatest success in this role was the leading a software licensing reconciliation and clean-up process in preparation for an ELP, reducing licensing exposure by over $4M within a six-month period.

• Manager responsible for Sonic IT Radiology business unit's Technical Services Team Leads. These teams were spread across WA, VIC and NSW.• Manage a small team of technical resources providing on-site support throughout Queensland in support of Queensland X-Ray.• Act as a liaison between the strategic and operational layers of the business and IT function.• Facilitate engagements between IT and business stakeholders.• Manage the relationships with 5 different business groups (each with their own management team including CEO’s).• Standardise systems and processes across the teams.• Implemented a culture of "root cause analysis", to address underlying and systemic issues.• Work closely with the other Technical Services Managers to improve Service Delivery.• Strongly advocated for more modern, secure and easy to use End User Compute environments including the sponsorship of projects focused on delivering these necessary upgrades.

Not an official role, this was a position that was built due to the large amounts of data I needed to analyse to meet the requirements of my other roles. By making that data available using BI tools, I was able to empower staff across the IT organisation to make decisions based on facts.• Implemented a Business Intelligence solution using Microsoft Power BI Report Server.• Build and generate reports combining data sets from many different sources including SQL servers, Active Directory and MySQL.• Produced reports covering many areas including (but not limited to): Licensing, Desktop Environment, Server Environment, Print Environment, Application Environment and Network Environment. These reports were used by technical teams, project managers and the IT Executive Team. • Provide advice and guidance to other BI users across the wider Sonic organisation.• Established Power BI implementation documentation for use by the technical team.• Established a small team of BI support specialists.

• Fulfilled all IT management responsibilities, including:o Local (Australia and PNG) IT strategic management o IT resource and asset managemento IT budget management (Annual budget of $3 million, savings made each year)o Vendor management• Managed a team of six staff whilst coordinating with IT elements in Canada and Malaysia.• Established an IT Service Level Agreement between the IT function and the business.• Instigated a Communications Services Review and went to market with an RFI and RFQ. Contracts signed for Australian Communications services were expected to save $100K per annum with improved service offering being provided. A Satellite Services contract which was being finalised as I left was expected to deliver a further $300K savings per annum, again with better service offering being provided. These contracts also reduced the number of vendors we were partnered with from eight to two.• Established a project to deliver corporate communications into the field sites which had previously been using an open internet connection over a satellite link.

• Delivered complete site setups including the design and configuration of VMware ESX servers, Telstra Managed WAN services, Windows Servers, Network Services, Switched Infrastructure, WAN acceleration (using Riverbed Steelhead) and Cisco IP Telephony.• Act as an escalation point for the service desk (Level 1) staff.• Manage and promote the IT Change Management process and procedures, including recommending and testing changes to the IT Service Management (ITSM) system.

• Provided technical support to clients with Microsoft based infrastructures, typically this involved Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange 2003 and Microsoft ISA 2006.• Ran the internal trial of Microsoft Hyper-V and the beta testing of Microsoft Virtual Machine Manager 2008. This included migrations from Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 R2. Subsequently, the majority of internal servers were migrated to this environment.• Implementation of solutions across Microsoft Unified Communication products strategy: Microsoft Exchange Server and Microsoft Office Communications Server .• Implemented Group Policy Application Deployment to ensure the minimum requirements to successfully utilise Microsoft Unified Communications were in place.• Implemented iSCSI storage solution utilising Microsoft Storage Server.

• Full management of all internal IT infrastructures (Windows Servers, Active Directory, Desktops, Virtualisation Products, SQL, SharePoint Intranet, Backups, Switches, Firewalls, Internet Connections, etc).• Provided clients with technical infrastructure solutions based on Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2, Microsoft Exchange Server (both 2003 and 2007 versions), Virtualisation Environments (both Microsoft and VMware) plus relevant backup and antivirus technologies.• Implemented systems management solutions based on MOM, SCE, SCOM, WSUS and Dell OpenManage. • Developed a Windows XP based Standard Operating Environment (SOE) that greatly improved system usability and drastically reduced the number of support hours required.• Implemented application packaging and deployments mechanisms to simplify PC fleet management. • Through my encouragement and mentoring, a number of IT staff became Microsoft Certified Professionals (MCP’s). This in turn allowed TTGroup to become a Microsoft Certified Partner.• Implemented centralized patch management programs.

I spent most of my tenure within a Rapid Deployment Force where I led a highly coordinated team in establishing field communications. Led a team of five in the provision of network services (Windows NT Servers and Workstations, Switches, Routers, etc). Led a team of up to ten staff in general day-to-day duties. Provide advice on the planning, design, performance, security and implementation of Communication Information Systems (CIS) resources. Held accountable for over $2 million worth of equipment. Adhered to, maintained and enforced defence security policies. Ran a highly available, highly secure data network for field communications.
