Prepared text for Monte Carlo uncertainty analysis of human health risk assessment.Hanford Comprehensive Land Use Plan EIS (1993 – 1995) Prepared ecological risk assessment for the first public draft of this EIS. Analyzed baseline ecological risks and impacts of remediation of over 1,100 past practice sites at the Hanford Site. Prepared literature review of Approaches for Threatened and Endangered Plant Propagation, Translocation, and Re-establishment and accompanying Comprehensive Bibliography.Team Member, Review of Pre-Closure Assessment of a Conceptual System for Disposal of Canada’s Nuclear Fuel Waste (1995) Served on Environmental Advisory Team to review this study for Environment Canada, examining potential environmental impacts of a conceptual system for disposal of nuclear fuel waste. Reviewed nonradiological facility impacts analyses.Technical Reviewer, Woolpert Consultants, Inc.(1995) Provided technical review and editing of EAs for highway projects in Kentucky and Ohio and assisted in wetlands mitigation planning. Interim Project Manager and Technical Consultant, White Sands Missile Range Range-Wide EIS (1993 –1994) This programmatic level EIS evaluated impacts of all operations at a major national test range in New Mexico. Developed detailed project schedule, coordinated staff input, prepared introductory chapters, and provided complete technical edit.Project Manager, NEPA Documents and Ecological Investigations, Fernald Environmental Management Project (1989 – 1993) Managed ecological field studies, a Feasibility Study-EIS, and the Site-Wide Characterization Report, a sitewide data summary and baseline risk assessment, for this U.S. Department of Energy site. Technical contributions included ecological risk assessments, analyses of ecological impacts of remedial actions for five RI/FS, Floodplain/Wetlands Assessment, and general assistance on NEPA and ecological issues to DOE and other project contractors. Conducted research to develop a toxicant bioassay based on interference with the chemotactic responses of motile unicellular algae. A chemotaxis bioassay could detect toxicants in complex effluents or test pure compounds for effects on a general biological phenomenon important to human immunological responses.

Conducted research on the effects of nitrogen starvation on the protein composition of cyanobacteria. Studies focused on changes in the structure of the photosynthetic antennae of cyanobacteria, using electrophoresis, protein staining, and immunoblotting.

Conducted research on protoplast and tissue culture systems for economically important algae from which agar and carrageenan are produced. Significant accomplishments included discovery of a novel tissue culture system, which was patented.
