Mr. Davis is a Purchasing/Program Management professional with over thirty years of experience in various industries. He has experience in purchasing, accounts payable, logistics, grants and contract administration. His strengths are in cost reductions, negotiations, planning and organizing, and effective communications (verbal and written). In Mr. Davis’ role as the Administrator of Purchasing for Shelby County Government, Mr. Davis was responsible for the supervision of the Purchasing Manager, Deputy, Buyers and clerical support staff. As the Purchasing Coordinator for Memphis City Schools, he was responsible for the procurement of all items from classroom supplies to construction of a new school, accounts payable and logistics. Mr. Davis was responsible for a budget in excess of $2 million and procurements in excess of $500 million.In other capacities, Mr. Davis has provided value/cost analyses, maintained supplier performance, researched and developed alternative sources of supplies, coordinated inventory and outside transportations services, and served as team leader on projects. In the area of grant administration, Mr. Davis has done grant writing and researching, negotiated and administered grants, and successfully delivered a product or service as the result of an awarded grant.In the area of Purchasing, Mr. Davis has purchased for the following industries: Government, Education, Military, Environmental and Food Processing. Mr. Davis holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Alabama A&M University and a Master’s of Business Administration degree with a Marketing concentration from Dominican University). In addition, Mr. Davis has completed several Dale Carnegie courses.Mr. Davis has served on the Board of Directors for the Tennessee Association of School Board Officials and is active in various other community and social organizations.
