I'm a licensed cosmetologist, by trade. I've worked for Great Clips for 10+ years. I have excellent customer service skills. During my tenure at Great Clips, I was a salon manager for two years. While working at Great Clips, I attempted to change career paths. Yet, I had no luck nailing an internship to gain medical experience. However, due to my amazing customer service skills; the front office manager of Riverview Medical Center, hired me while I was cutting her son's hair! I began as a front office registrar at Riverview Medical Center. I was with this company for 4+ years. I was promoted to Quality Assurance Specialist within one year. I became trained in basic medical processes, medical terminology, registering and scheduling patients. As a Quality Assurance Specialist, I critiqued the work of the front desk and balanced all monies taken by the front desk. This detailed analysis ensured accuracy of medical claims, prior to being processed. I later became the Assistant Front Manager. In this role, I supervised 12+ employees, aided in conflict resolution, and had an integral part in the daily run of the front desk. Currently, I am a Community Health Educator, Peer Adherence Navigator, and the Volunteer Coordinator for Affinity Health Center. As an educator I perform free, rapid HIV, Hepatitis C, chlamydia, gonorrhea and pregnancy testing. I do safer sex counseling, as well. I go out to the community and speak about safer sex practices and healthy relationships. As a Peer, I work intimately with people living with HIV. I support personal decisions related to living with HIV and those that directly impacts the patient's health. Last but not least, I oversee the organization's volunteer program.
