I’ve enjoyed a long career working as a mechanical engineer in the thermoplastic extrusion sector, currently in a business development role with CPV Ltd – established in 1948, the company is one of the UK’s pioneers in thermoplastic pipe extrusion. Helping a wide array of clients with specialist tube and pipe extrusions from a variety of thermoplastic materials, we are creating bespoke solutions for a diverse mix of applications, that popularly include cores for paper, films and foil manufacturers – offering a cost-effective and durable alternative to cardboard. Having started my career with Durapipe UK, the last nine of a total of 19 years with the company was spent in the role of production manager, with the responsibility for keeping nine extrusion lines running – producing products for water, gas and pressure pipe systems using PE and ABS.For the next stage of my career, I effectively worked for myself, during which time I transitioned into a business development role, drawing on my engineering and production skills – which proved to be a valuable asset as I had insight into what was technically feasible.Working with CPV Ltd since 2011, in essence, if it can be extruded, we can produce it. Offering tubular sections, our modern facilities can offer a custom range of dimensions (up to 630mm diameter) from a wide choice of thermoplastic materials – in any colour. We not only have a vast stock of existing tooling, but our engineers can skilfully produce bespoke tooling to meet individual requirements – enabling our round-the-clock production shifts to manufacture custom orders efficiently and on time.
