My career in photography commenced in 1986. Commercial photography commissions honed my technical expertise, delivering everything from work for print and package advertising through to award winning annual report images and aerial photography. A related interest in computing dominated part of the 1990’s but the advent of digital photography allowed me to then combine my interests. In 2001 I finally committed to pursuing the creative expression of my photography through art. This was satisfying an internal need but also based on the encouraging feedback of academics and other artists who believed that the work merited a wider audience.Solo and group exhibitions followed. My work is now included in private collections in the UK, Germany, South Africa and the USA, as well as some corporate collections in the UK.In 2007 I decided to stop exhibiting for a time as I wished to develop technical craft with new tools that were becoming available for managing and processing digital images. These enabled me to explore new ideas and ways of rendering images. In turn, the technical expertise led to an invitation to become a regular writer for the Nikon Owner Magazine.Without pressure to exhibit, my art has evolved and grown in an organic fashion, with inspiration from many sources. I continue to work with both film and digital images, combining old techniques with modern tools and technology. I am also interested in collaborating with others, once again moving in fresh directions. Sharing that glimpse beyond the lens is still my inspiration.Specialties: Abstract photography; Impressionism; digital work flow.
