My role as the Head of Communications at the BGS has come to an end. This role included the press office, web delivery, outreach, internal communications and publications. I have now resumed my role as Industrial Minerals Geologist actively working on industrial minerals, my current interest is Frac Sand (which is used as part of the hydraulic fracturing process for shale gas production). I also manage the www.MineralsUK.com website and am also the secretary of the Extractive Industry Geology (EIG) organising committee (the next conference will be hosted by the University of Exeter in 2020).
