I joined Zenith as an Operations Manager in 2003. At this time Zenith had already successfully operated in Coventry for over twenty five years. Its core business at this time was office cleaning, industrial cleaning and painting and decorating key customers included several local councils, housing association and several large local blue chip companies. My core group responsibilities are the industrial and environmental cleaning division at Zenith. My initial intention when I joined Redland Roof Tiles back in 1989 was as a stop gap temporary carrier position, as I was intending a move down south to Dawlish in North Devon. My first position there was as a fittings plant commissioning production line operative. The production plant was a German built state of the art clay roof tile manufacturing process. The production process after commissioning operated 24/7 and we manufactured upwards of 64000 clay roof tile fittings a week with only sixteen employees. The plant was built to replace its sister plant in Cannock staffordshire at that time producing 24000 clay roof tile fittings employing over a hundred employees.My stop gap carrier move lasted fourteen years!!! I was quickly promoted through the ranks to Plant Manager by 1993 and was in total control of all production planning for over 122 product lines, budgetary spending control, recruitment, plant maintenance scheduling, quality control implementation and new product development. Redland is a blue chip company with factories worldwide, during my time with Redland I worked in sister clay and concrete factories in Italy, Germany and France and less glamorous! Wales, Bristol, and Devon.Among some of my memorable moments at Redland I achieved best UK product waste reduction targets along with one of the highest profit producing production lines in Europe.I also headed-up some of the earliest business / schools links by freely supplying our quarried raw material Etruria Marl clay (superb modelers clay) to several schools and arts colleges around the country. This provided Redland with excellent links to future school leavers and graduates along with free regular press entries.
