I manage a complex portfolio combining country responsibility and functional responsibility; I have three separate areas of responsibility. The first, is the disciplinary responsibility for nine Managing Directors covering Europe, North America, Japan and Australasia. Here, the main area of responsibility is to ensure that each country has the right strategy implemented by the right team facilitating the achievement of the agreed financial objectives. The second area is a functional one, where I have responsibility, amongst other challenges, for Global Pricing and Sales excellence. Finally, those countries where we do not have a managed subsidiary, we use a network of third party distributors to support the Brita brand and to sell the Brita products. All the countries are at varying degrees of maturity, meaning that quite different approaches need to be developed depending on the country, culture and expectations. With the growth of on-line sales, the need to establish a global trading strategy has never been more relevant which I am actively leading with the Global Sales Team.
