Co-founder NELVANA, Toronto-based film company. Grew company from tiny three-man animation shop to giant entertainment company 1971-2001, now owned by Corus Entertainment.Born England 1944, graduated Ealing Art School, London, painting, illustration, design, kinetic art and rock & roll. Began film career 1964 animating Beatles, Lone Ranger TV Series. Moved to Canada 1967, designing, animating short films, commercials. Formed Nelvana 1971 with partners Patrick Loubert, Michael Hirsh. Formed rock & roll trio.70’s thru 90’s co-produced, directed animated feature Rock & Rule, numerous television specials including Cosmic Christmas, The Devil and Daniel Mouse. Executive produced Care Bears, Babar, Tintin, Rupert, Beetlejuice, Stickin’ Around, Eek the Cat, Ned’s Newt, Bob and Margaret, Rolie Polie Olie features and/or series. Directed first animated Star Wars special for George Lucas, A Wookie’s Christmas, Directed animated TV series Family Dog with producers Steven Spielberg and Tim Burton, and animated feature Pippi Longstocking, with Swedish and German co-production partners. Produced insanely complex animated film for South Korea’s Expo ’95 in OMNIMAX format with IMAX founder, Graeme Ferguson.Lots of awards: 2 Emmys, Geminis, Houston etc.2001 onwards est. prod co. Musta Costa Fortune. Developing and writing film /tv projects. Involved financing/consulting television, music and web-related projects. Lives in Toronto and London UK. Executive PLAY RECORDS and PLAY DEEP STUDIOS UK. Shoots music videos. Plays keyboards. Flies airplanes. Laughs a lot.
