The site has a thriving message board community and I have used Twitter (@loftforwords) and Facebook to help grow its traffic to a point where it is averaging more than 50,000 page impressions a day. Through LFW I have gained experience as a columnist with the QPR fanzine A Kick Up The R's, a regular guest on the Open All R's Podcast produced by Playback Media and in television on broadcasts of Sports Tonight Live and Setanta Sports News. I have also contributed to The Observer videocasts, written a blog for the London Evening Standard website and written general football copy for Goalfood.com. From the start of the 2013/14 football season I have been working with the Telegraph Online sports team as a live blogger, covering Premier League football matches for the Telegraph website.

As a senior reporter on the Kettering based team at the Northants Evening Telegraph I was charged with sourcing the most important stories by working the patch and local court and council circuit. I was regularly trusted to handle big, breaking stories, including high profile murder trials.

Towards the end of my time with Johnston Press in Mid-Derbyshire I edited the sports sections of the Belper News and Ripley and Heanor News using first Quark Express and then later the Atex Prestige and In Design systems. I also edited the sport sections of the newspaper's website where I had previously pioneered live blogging of local football matches through its content management system. This included covering courts and councils which required sound judgement, legal knowledge and shorthand skills. I also ran the newspaper's campaigns including its popular Sort It strand.
