Profile bio

About Christine Martin. Mdes

I love making things better. With others. I love digging into gnarly challenges to discover great ways forward. Together. Many years of leadership in the non-profit sector, creating impactful programs and experiences for people, led me to become an innovation designer. Always drawn to improving and transforming through co-creation, design became the new means to make the kind of impact that matters to me – whether that be in city building, social justice, climate change, future of work or other important issues of today – and tomorrow.Today, I am a freelance design consultant who works with organizations, communities and teams to achieve positive change, across the private, public and social purpose sectors. I work collaboratively with partners and clients to find solutions and build capabilities, whatever the challenge. To every project, I bring my whole self and my full commitment to the team and to the purpose. Creative energy, warmth, adaptability and a bit a fun are the hallmarks of my approach, that focuses on what is possible. I always keep the broader system in mind, with a view to the future, while grounding it all in the practicalities of today. What exactly do you design, you might ask (and people do!). I design for positive impact, with a human-centred, systemic approach. For me this involves four key areas:• Service & Experience Design• Facilitation & Engagement• Innovation Research & Writing, Design Research• Strategy & ForesightFor example, I have……co-facilitated the creation and launch of a national network of non-profit leaders, with a focus on purpose and strategy…conducted deep needs assessment through qualitative research to inform a service model for small business employees, with more work underway…created two 4-part toolkit suites for Canadian municipal leaders to accelerate positive development for placemaking, internet connectivity and climate change…delivered design research and co-creation sessions for insurance clients to improve customer experiences, including journey maps, personas and insights reports…architected a dynamic and innovative volunteer engagement program engaging 40,000+ in 12 years…designed numerous family adventures in nature and in cities close to home and around the worldI love helping people and exploring ideas and experiences, so feel free to reach out. I would love to chat, whether I’ve known you for ages or we have yet to meet.REACH OUT AT: christinemvmartin@gmail.comLEARN MORE: christinemvmartin.com
