PD Ports is a shipping and logistics company, the owner/operator of Teesside Port, manager of the River Tees operations, cargo manoeuvres and portside logistics. This unionised environment includes berths, warehousing, distribution centres, a logistics centre and an intermodal rail terminal. There is a full maintenance facility/team and a projects team that self-executes all engineering, construction and refurbishment projects with support from subcontractors.

I was seconded from my role as Safety Manager (Compliance Manager) to be the operational project lead to plan and deliver a safety digital transformation project for all ISO-compliant safety management systems.I collaboratively developed the project strategy with the IT Project Manager and Compliance Director and managed the development of the business case, project plan, risk management plan, schedule and resource requirements.My role involved business analysis including engaging with key stakeholders to develop as-is and to-be processes to unify HSE processes across the group and develop a robust functional scope. I worked collaboratively to define digital product requirements to integrate all safety functions in a cloud-based solution, prepare RFQ documents, assess tender responses and select the new platform.I also defined reporting and data analytics capabilities, built dashboards using PowerBI, facilitated UAT and used UAT outcomes to iteratively develop the solution.Change management was a core part of this role and I worked with communications partner to develop and implement the communications strategy for 1500+ staff and designed and delivered training to 200+ personnel.

Reporting to the Operations Director, I managed all safety processes and compliance for a high-risk, unionised environment with 300+ employees. I led two safety coordinators to deliver all safety management for an operation including port operations (LOLO/ROLO), logistics, intermodal rail, engineering, maintenance and construction.My role involved leading day-to-day safety including method statements, safety inspections, toolbox talks, safety training, incident investigations, safety audits and emergency planning processes in compliance with ISO 45001. I organised safety meetings and committee meetings; driving actions and corrective actions through to completion.A key element of this position was continuous improvement and I worked with the operations director to develop a strategic five-year plan for health and safety which included the digitisation project in which I took a lead project management role.I worked as a business analyst, project manager and change manager using Lean methodologies to deliver a range of improvements to automate and improve processes, reduce costs, drive behavioural change and operational/safety improvements.

I studied an Honours Degree in Management Practice as part of a government-funded apprenticeship program focused on increasing productivity in UK businesses. Delivered by the Chartered Management Institute in collaboration with PD Ports, I was mentored by the operations manager through this work-integrated program. I gained exposure to leadership and operational processes across the organisation including HR, business strategy, business operations, management accounting, financial accounting and change management.

I was an accredited RTITB (transport and logistics standards body) and certified vocational training instructor with expertise in providing training and assessment for port operations. I developed new training and assessments covering a broad range of subjects including health and safety, complex port operational equipment with a focus on transport and logistics equipment and digital systems.I delivered training face-to-face both one-on-one and for teams of up to 40 people to upskill a white and blue-collar workforce. Additionally, I delivered accredited training (equivalent to VET training) as part of Government funded schemes, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.The role involved working closely with stakeholders and vendors to design effective training and assessments to support safe and efficient operational processes.

I specialise in wedding and portrait photography but also do sports and events occasionally. I have learned to create an effective business model; creating a website, booking system, gallery and app with checkout functionality. I have developed my technical skills to a high level and provide high quality work with high quality products. 1. I have undertook and experienced numerous portrait and wedding photography contracts.2. I regularly undertook sports photography for Billingham stars Ice hockey team with work being featured in the local newspaper.3. I covered a charity event for the princes trust at Croft race circuit, and thoroughly enjoyed a seat in a Suburu Impreza rally car.
