Grace and Peace Presbyterian Church of Austin was going through a tumultuous season in 2018. The church was only two years old and growing quickly when the pastor unexpectedly resigned. I was hired to bring experience and stability during this period of transition.Policies and Procedures• Improved functionality of the church’s financial policies and procedures. Strategically ensuring that multiple groups had the information they needed while ensuring the integrity of sensitive information. • Internal and external communications - revamping church website, managing social media contractors, and creating weekly communication templates to streamline number of inputs and amount of communication going to congregants every week. • Developed and implemented childcare electronic sign in and safety protocols.Leadership and Human Resources• Managed staff while reporting to the Board of Directors to ensure all functions of the church operated with excellence.• Conducted review of employee benefits, leading to improvements in health insurance benefits, retirement contributions for all full-time employees, and a better understanding of existing benefits by creating an Employee Manual. Operational Effectiveness• Led staff in weekly review of activities, implementing new ideas and strategies to improve the effectiveness of meeting the church’s mission and vision. • Primary liaison to financial institutions and administrator for all accounts and grants. • Developed and maintained yearly budgets.• Led the pivot to virtual church in 2 weeks due to pandemic. Researched and implemented safety protocols upon return to in-person services. Volunteer management - shopped and selected software to make signing up for volunteer positions in the church seamless and less invasive on staff time.

The mission of Interfaith Action of Central Texas is to cultivate peace and respect through interfaith dialogue, service and celebration. iACT is a nonprofit that brings together faith communities in the Austin area to work together and serve the community. I was hired as the Operations Director to allow the Executive Director to turn over the responsibilities of running the day-to-day operations and focus on promoting iACT to area religious leaders, along with philanthropical organizations and individuals.• Supervised grant administration for local and federal grants as well as grants from foundations.• Served as principal liaison to city, state, and federal government officials.• Built models used each year to develop complex operating budget.• Direct oversight of hiring, evaluating, encouraging, correcting, and empowering staff.• Directed day-to-day operations for the organizations three programs: home repair for seniors, teaching refugees English, and healthy dialogue program. • Managed the organization’s Fall and Spring fundraising galas, including coordinating volunteers and vendors.• Supervised marketing and communications, branding strategies and materials.• Collaborated with Director of Development and Executive Director on fundraising strategies and initiatives.• Rewrote Employee Policies & Procedures and updated employee benefits structure.• Wrote and oversaw client privacy policies and procedures.• Oversight of IT system at main office and at many remote locations.• Directed purchasing and vendor relations.• Managed all conflict that arose due to complaints or concerns from lending agencies and customers.

Triumphant Love Lutheran Church is one of the largest Lutheran congregations in Southwest Texas with around 1100 members and an annual budget of around $2 million. The church adopted a new governance model, giving the Church Council the responsibility of developing mission and vision for the church. I was hired as the organization’s first Executive Director and was responsible for leading the church’s staff and ministries in strategically planning the means of accomplishing the church’s mission and vision. • Updated the church’s employee manual and financial policy manual to be consistent with the church’s new governance model.• Led and guided the Board of Ministries in the creation of yearly strategic plan.• Oversight of yearly stewardship emphasis culminating in yearly pledge drive.• Soon after the governance model transition, the church’s Senior Pastor of 14 years was forced to retire due to a health emergency – I served as head of staff during a 2 ½ year pastoral search.• Developed a change management process, building teams and gathering input from key stakeholders in carrying out a necessary staff re-structuring during the interim period.• The church’s budget process was traditionally contentious. I developed a new process that included town hall type discussions and a higher level of transparency that successfully increased buy-in and all but eliminated conflict in the budget process. • Unified the church’s budget, which had multiple income streams and several budgets, so every budget was structured to meeting the mission and vision of the church.• Achieved the goal of the church’s facilities being used by the church and outside organizations at least 60% of available hours.• Led team that upgraded the church’s HVAC system and lights to environmentally friendly equipment and sensors that could be controlled remotely, when necessary.

Southwest Development began as a home builder in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and expanded its services to include town homes and multi-use facilities. • Expanded the building capacity from 1 home at a time to 22 simultaneous construction projects by hiring additional staff, designing and implementing processes, expanding office facilities, and working closely with the owner to upgrade the branding and image of the company.• Created system to utilize MasterBuilder software and Gantt charts to automate bidding, scheduling, and internal communication from start to finish for each building project.• As the staff expanded, I developed Human Resource policies and procedures, including employee manual, employee review process and employee benefits.• Implemented and oversaw internal protocols for employees and subcontractors that exceeded OSHA’s requirements for safety.• Developed relationships with vendors and company policies concerning vendor and subcontractor relations. • Directed company finances, including accounts payable, payroll, bank draws, credit account maintenance and insurance.• Developed business plans and financial models for presentations to investors on commercial construction projects, including multi-use office buildings, adult daycare facilities, and town homes.

Managed all operations of a Dallas-area printing and graphics business, including oversight of 25 employees and control of a $1MM annual operating budget.
