I have worked on many of the firm’s projects including the Reflex Framework/CMS System (built in Flex, PHP, MYSQL and XSLT). Other projects comprised of a specification system and a maintainable basket system that allow users in Flash to choose a whole list of basket modifiers and discount codes which integrate into Google Cart, HSBC, Sage Pay and PayPal’s express payment systems. Developing the library website (www.library.dmu.ac.uk). My duties involved testing their current website, developing the next version of the website using their in house custom CMS. I built a meta-search engine for the libraries external journals and citations (built using PHP and JAVA socket technology) while adding to the admin functionality for the website. I also developed an audio/visual CAPTCHA using the GD Library, BASH scripting and a whole host of open source sound manipulation tools.When I had finished my work placement I was invited to continue my work, developing the De Montfort Skills Website. My duties involved constructing the CMS website and allowing other staff to add and edit the site as they wished. I also built a system to let English teachers add questions to test students of the university. The website had to be accessible to all and meet the latest standards.
