Chelsea is the Executive Director of the Oregon Health and Education Collaborative (The Collaborative), whose mission it is to support community-based collaboration between healthcare and education partners to achieve positive outcomes for Oregon's youth.The first effort of The Collaborative is the Upstream Initiative, with a focus on the First 1000 Days of Life. Within one year we raised and invested $750,000 and established partnerships in half of Oregon's counties. The Upstream Initiative is comprised of 5 regionally distinct design pilots who are engaged in community-based, culturally-responsive, cross-sector collaboration to generate a blueprint for Child Success Models that will live in their communities and can be replicated statewide. The second initiative is underway and it is a Healthcare Careers Pathways event for youth, so high school students can learn about and be inspired to pursue a local pathway to a healthcare occupation. We are partnering with the Oregon Health Leadership Council and school districts in Phoenix-Talent and Umatilla. Chelsea has launched three nonprofit organizations and two businesses. She is a certified leadership coach and has professional experience developing performance review systems, conflict mediation, meeting facilitation and organizational development. She also has experience in fundraising, event planning, policy development, stakeholder engagement, staff and team development and management, communication and marketing. Chelsea served as an Adjunct Professor at Linfield University in the Communication Arts department. She has also taught in the Communication Studies Department at Chemeketa Community College, Portland State University, and Marylhurst University. Courses designed and taught include:- Communication and Race- Intercultural Communication- Workplace Communication- Interviewing: The Art of Purposeful Conversation- Family Communication - Pubic Speaking- Interpersonal Communication- Interaction and AdvocacyChelsea dedicated 8 years of publicly elected service as a Director on the Board of the West Linn-Wilsonville School District. She is an alum of Emerge Oregon and has led four successful campaigns: Two Capital Bond and Local Option Levy Campaigns, and Two School Board Races. She is passionate about social justice, ecological justice, equity, diversity and belonging.For fun Chelsea swims in natural bodies of water, takes walks with friends, spends time with her (adult and nearly adult) children, plus volleyball or partner dances.
