I have a passion for providing people the opportunity to achieve great things and pursue their dreams. I appreciate working directly with people as well as behind the scenes to get things done. During my Time at Western Colorado University, I became a member of the Western Mountain Rescue Team where I served as the development coordinator for two years and am currently a trainer and mission coordinator. In my time as development coordinator I learned grant-writing, fundraising, outreach; all skills that helped support the team in purchasing important equipment for mission-response.In 2022 I started volunteering for the Adaptive Sports Center in Crested Butte, CO. As a volunteer I worked alongside ASC instructors to provide high quality ski instruction for people with disabilities and their family members. My duties as a volunteer included assisting with gear fit-up, engaging with the participant, and operating as a safety buffer on the mountain. I participated in the "volunteer to instructor" program which helped me understand the fundamentals of teaching an effective lesson. My experience as a volunteer pushed me to apply to their internship program. As an intern, I am instructing participants on lessons, doing equipment fit-up independently, working in the front office, and managing grant funds to create a new community program for local families. In my time at Western I have gained an appreciation for being adaptable to changes in interests and learning what I want to learn. I'm excited to learn more about the roles I can take on that will assist others in achieving their dreams.
