I served in the US Air Force for nine years (2008-2017) as an Emergency Manager and Hazardous Materials Technician. In 2017 I commissioned as a US Army Officer within the Florida Army National Guard; Operations Officer for a rapid-reaction Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) response team, coordinating with local, state, and federal law enforcement and first responders including the FBI, US Secret Service, and FL Dept of Emergency Management. During COVID-19, my team conducted over 50 mission supporting the Florida Dept of Health, collecting 6000 clinical samples from high-risk environments within a three week timeframe. I directly coordinated with all levels of incident management, logistics managers, and healthcare providers to execute these missions involving a hastily assembled joint task force. Also responsible for planning, resourcing, and tracking a task force during five hurricane impacts across the state of Florida; we accomplished weeks of planning and preparation within days as storms approached, and quickly inserted ourselves via air or ground immediately following impact. For family reasons, I moved back home to Kansas in 2021 and took a Section Leader position with the Kansas WMD team, leading and managing 12 Soldiers. Continued working toward successful accomplishment of competing interests and priorities and within serious resourcing constraints; no failures as we grew a new team out of a period of significant turnover. Currently serving as the Commander of a Medical Company in Lenexa, KS; as commander I am ultimately responsible for all plans, operations, training, and resourcing of the 65 Soldier / 30 vehicle unit. I oversee medical supplies, subject to regular expiration and irregular resupply windows, and fleet maintenance as well as my passion projects of developing a team of teams and future leaders within my sphere of influence.
