Profile bio

About Cody Hooven

I value and leverage the power of networks, relationships, and trust as a means to advance big initiatives. I am an innovative, nimble, and skilled executive with over 15 years’ experience advancing groundbreaking and equitable climate, energy, and sustainable development progress in communities. I have done the work to make change happen from the most difficult position - inside government. I’m people-oriented, values-driven, and lead with integrity. I turn data and technical analyses into action. I led the development of the first-ever port climate action plan and secured support from waterfront businesses (that generate $6B in economic impact), and garnered unprecedented support which led to the passage and implementation of a nationally recognized climate plan for the city of San Diego (8th largest city in the U.S.). I also built San Diego Community Power, the second-largest public power agency in California ($700M in revenue at launch) - successfully leading the effort from study to formation and launch. I love to work with good people and assemble all the building blocks of big ideas - partners, funding, advocates, political will - and see positive things happen for a community.

Listed skills include Sustainability, Environmental Awareness, Environmental Policy, Climate Change, and 46 others.
