The Steam play ball at Max McLeary Field located at Western Hills High School. The same school that Pete Rose, MLB’s career hits leader, graduated from.During my internship with the Cincinnati Steam I performed various duties during games including ticket & merchandise sales, on-field promotions, and operating social media accounts.Off the field my team and I were asked to come up with ideas that would help the club generate additional revenue. I came up with the idea to create a new game that incorporated the fans love of baseball and Cincinnati West Siders rich history with cornhole – Baseball Cornhole. After sketching up the board design, creating rules for the game, calculating the cost to construct the board, and determining the return on investment I was able to successfully present my idea to the owner of the club, resulting in receiving the funds to bring my idea to life. The game ended up being a huge success, generating over $700 in new revenue over the course of the season and will be available for the team for many years to come.I also had the opportunity to lead, organize, and execute an event called the Badge of Honor Game which benefited Honor Flight Tri-State, a non-profit organization. The game matched the City of Cincinnati’s Police Officers and Firefighters up against each other to create a fun, family-friendly atmosphere.
