About Cody Barnett

Cody Barnett, MPH, is a Patient Advocacy Specialist at Illumina, a global leader committed to improving human health by unlocking the power of the genome. In this role, Cody works to forge relationships with patients and the organizations that serve them to build evidence and advocate for the clinical benefits of genomics in improving health outcomes. Cody comes to Illumina after 10+ years in the non-profit sector where he worked at organizations at the forefront of advancing research, tackling disparities, and making systems more responsive to the communities they serve. Most recently, he served as Senior Director of Communications and Patient Engagement at the Melanoma Research Alliance (MRA), the largest non-profit funder of melanoma research worldwide. At MRA, he led efforts to engage, learn from, and partner with people impacted by melanoma. This role built on his tenure as the Communications Director at AIDS United, a national HIV/AIDS organization committed to ending the HIV epidemic in the United States. Cody is passionate about using data-driven storytelling and patient-centered thinking to advocate with and on behalf of patients, caregivers, and other stakeholders.
