Our Competence Centres each focus specifically on one (or more) technological and/or methodological issues. They act as a cluster of knowledge within Ordina. Through internal and external training, certification, workshops, best practices, frameworks, ... the knowledge is kept up to date. The Ordina Centres also follow the market trends, advise Ordina on its strategic choices and carry out the necessary internal audits. Practically, these Competence Centres are led by senior domain experts / people managers.

As part of the broader Liantis group, Liantis Risk Solutions offers insurance advice and solutions to companies, acting as an independent broker. Liantis advisors request insurance offers from different insurance companies for their clients, select the best offer, and provide this offer to the clients in a Liantis-styled offer.At project kick-off, no uniform system was in place for preparing these offers. In order to improve the efficiency of this process and make the offers sent to clients by different advisors more uniform, Liantis Risk Solutions initiated a project to design and develop an application in which Liantis advisors can generate these offers. Based on an initial business analysis conducted by Liantis, we developed initial wireframes for the application, which were discussed with the Liantis team and then further developed into a clickable prototype that was tested with future users. Based on these user tests, the designs were further refined. Next, the development team worked in an agile manner to develop the application. Close collaboration between the business analysts, the Liantis product owner, the developers and the UX designers throughout the whole process ensured that the application that was developed combines technological quality with UX best practices. In the longer term, this application will form the basis for similar applications to be developed for other Liantis units.

AppYourService is a tool for the KBC employee which wants to bundle the endless procedures and systems within KBC in one handy mobile application.As Software Engineer I had to implement the functional stories for the AppYourService application of KBC. Most functionalities integrated with other departments of KBC, among others HR, Facilities and Communication. We integrated with JIRA, SAP, Archibus, O365, Sharepoint and many other services. I was responsible for the integration with Facilities, which resulted in the possibilities to make a parking reservation, to reporting facility problems and meeting room inventory.We were also responsible for deploying the different microservices to the development, acceptance and production environments in OpenShift. Our team maintained the CI/CD pipelines and OpenShift configuration, in line with the DevOps way of thinking.

As a Team Lead of a development team of five developers, I was responsible for translating the requirements of the business to a technical solution, understandable for the team to start implementing the changes in the different applications.Our portfolio consisted of several applications, BSOS, GPBV, CBB, IMJV, among others, mainly developed in Java and JavaScript technologies.

ConnectMy.car, an all-in-one connected car solution that brings you the flexibility of an open platform, the convenience of premium connectivity and the comfort of esteemed car assistance.Responsible as Team Lead/Architect on the ConnectMy.car project. For this project we chose to use Scrum as Agile methodology, with JIRA Agile as a tool. As a Product Owner, I was responsible for leading the Sprint Demos and Backlog Refinement meetings with the customer, Sprint Planning with the team and support the team when they had technical questions during a Sprint.Frontend consisted of two parts: an Administration Portal and an End-user application. They consumed our REST API. I defined and implemented the cloud-native microservices architecture for the backend. The main concepts entail microservices with the Netflix OSS wrapped in Spring Cloud and hypermedia ( HATEOAS or REST level 3) using HAL mediatypes. I integrated Netflix components such as Zuul, Eureka, Ribbon, Hystrix, Feign to build a complete microservices architecture along with Spring Cloud Config, Spring Boot Admin and the microservices security layer with Spring Security.Aside from the technical implementation I implemented a DevOps culture by containerizing the microservices with Docker, Docker Compose and Docker Swarm. These containers would then be deployed on Azure by our continuous integration / continuous deployment tool.Our CI/CD consists of a Jenkins pipeline with Git for versioning control.

These clients are active in diferent sectors, including the public-, industry-, financial- and health sectors.I worked on WebIDM, an Identity Management project for the Entiteit e-government en ICT-Beheer (eIB) department of the Flemish Government.

ABC-Groep coaches are assigned so called coachees. The coach helps the coachee in realizing work-related targets and to further develop his/her skills. In a consultancy firm it is important that the consultants have a single point of contact with their employer. The coach can respond to both technical questions and questions related to the career of the employee. To achieve a closer bond with the consultant, the coach organizes coach meetings at regular intervals. Since the coach is most aware of the consultant's doings, he/she also evaluates the employee once a year.The coach's role is also to organize technical sessions twice a year so that the consultants are up-to-date technology wise. He also supports employees in their attempt to earn certifications. To detect which certifications or courses are needed for the consultant, the coach also communicates with the customer and tries to align the skills which are needed on the job with the certification path.

Challenges for libraries in a digital age are larger than local public libraries can handle on their own. In order to create a cohesive, efficient and technologically up to date answer to those challenges, the Flemish government founded a new organisation, Bibnet. Bibnet’s task will be to develop infrastructure and services for public libraries and the public, keep up with emerging technologies and build expertise in and collaborate with local libraries.

The Academic Hospital of Maastricht (in short azM) is a Dutch hospital in Maastricht, where also the medical-oriented departments of the Maastricht University are situated. It is one of the eight University Medical Centres in the Netherlands.I joined the Application Services team where I had to expose Helix database patient data as a Web Service to integrate with the SAP system.

AXI has been a successful ICT service provider for over 30 years. AXI first focused on the Belgian market; in 1989 it entered the Dutch market. Their solutions are used in several european countries but the focus is the Benelux. Axi is active in retail, healthcare, public and service industries. Their technology focus lies on Oracle.I joined a team of 15 Java developers in the Public department. My main occupation was developing new functionalities for the Case Management application (see the Projects section for more details). In between, I was also outsourced for a period of one year to BRIC (Brussels Region Informatics Center), the company that provides ICT services for the Brussels Region and its Communities and Environment. My final year at Axi, I developed the ECM Connector, a module built on the CMIS standard of 2010, to connect any CMIS compliant ECM system to Case Management.

BRIC is the ICT partner of the government and institutions of the Brussels-Capital Region. They provide services and solutions that meet their needs and so contribute to improving the efficiency and image of the region.I joined a team of five Java developers in the development of NovaOne, a piece of software with which te Brussels Region, it's communities, and the environment could manage their cases more efficiently. During this period I created new modules, enhanced the underlying framework and accompanied new teammembers.

AGC makes glass in all shapes and colors for every purpose imaginable, ranging from glass for car windows to glass buildings and interior design. AGC Europe IT handles the software department for this worldwide organisation.One of these projects was building and maintaining the YourGlass website. Aside from YourGlass, I contributed in the development of the E-Photolibrary application, a portal to query pictures of realised glass projects. According to the MVC principle I developed the administration part of the website. This project was also achieved using JSF, JPA and EJB3. For more information on both projects, see the Projects section.Projects for internal use are developed with Oracle ADF 10g. Instead of using ADF Business Components as the persistence layer, we used EJB3 and JPA, so in fact only the ADF Faces technology was used to realise the frontend.

Dierickx, Leys & Cie is a private bank situated in Antwerp. My job consisted mainly of developing software in C for the different departments of the bank. Our team consisted of four informaticians, each responsible for his own projects, from analysis to development.Most notable projects are: • Asset management program which calculated return portfolios and master portfolios• Reporting to the National Bank of Belgium (NBB) in context of the IFRS legislation: gather accountancy data, import in FinReporter and generate XML files to send to the NBB• MiFID reporting: send executed orders in the imposed XML-format to the MiFID server with curl and a security certificate• Program for selecting and printing dockets• Rewrite old shell software in C language

Research & Development concerning the electronic identity card (eID) of the Belgian Government. Me and my collegue had to make a web application for insurance brokers. With this application they can read the eID of a potential customer directly into the customer database. This avoids typing in the customer's details when returning at the office.We built the application on our own from scratch. Planning, analysis, GUI design, implementation and documentation were all part of the assignment. One of the requirements was that we used Java Applet technology to create the application. As part of our research, I went to the World eID Conference 2006 in Kinepolis Brussels.A few of our challenges were learning the new technology of the eID (aside from documenting the architecture we had to use the API of FedICT, ICT department of the government), securing the applet by signing it with an ING Insurance test certificate and passing all the information from the Java Applet to an HTML form, including the picture in Base64 format. Since the technology was very new at the time, it was difficult to tackle different problems and bugs in the application.
