About Michael A. Cohen
Dr. Michael A. Cohen brings a multidisciplinary approach to evaluation, management and problem-solving. This broad thinking has been applied to a wide-ranging set of activities including navigation systems, international security, pharmaceutical management and government strategic planning. In 2017, Dr. Cohen assumed responsibility for Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) of the $9.5-billion USAID Global Health Supply Chain Program’s Procurement and Supply Management. Dr. Cohen is a founding partner and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Twisty Systems, LLC. Twisty Systems develops state-of-the art navigation systems using artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms. As the Executive Director of Impact Institute, he brings his years of experience working in international development, research, and strategic planning. Through Impact Institute, he, and a team of experienced professionals, provide public and private-sector clients with expert support. The development of systems designed for measuring and communicating impact is a common element in his work.Dr. Cohen worked with the American Red Cross immediately following the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami. In this capacity, he worked with a wide range of stakeholders, including nat’l and int’l NGOs and United Nations agencies, to develop programming designed to assist recovery and mitigate future disasters. He holds a PhD in Neuroscience from Columbia University and experience facilitating workshops and teaching.
