Throughout my time in this role, one of my primary responsibilities was to develop antibody purification process conditions for late stage clinical development. I conducted proA and ion exchange chromatography on the both the Akta Unicorn and TECAN systems to develop these process conditions to support future GMP manufacturing. I analyzed downstream process intermediates for product quality, identity, and concentration, using SEC-HPLC, NR-CE, SoloVPE, NanoDrop, and ELISA assay techniques. I also helped conduct a viral clearance study at an external site to validate GMP process changes. Finally, I supported the CMC group in working with external CDMO's for large-scale GMP runs, including document review and general coordination. My time at Dragonfly Therapeutics was an extremely valuable introduction to the industry of immunology and downstream protein purification, and I am thankful to have spent my third and final co-op with such a motivated team and incredible mentors!

In this role, I worked on the early stage development and characterization of platform components in Lyndra's long-acting dosage form. I generated and executed experiments to achieve successful thermal bonding using various laser welder settings for different material compositions and platform configurations. I utilized mechanical tests to generate data to evaluate early-stage platform designs and materials, and I supported execution of custom tests to predict potential human gastric performance, leading to component selection for upcoming clinical trials. Additionally, I drove test method development to improve upon the speed and robustness of previous mechanical resilience tests. Throughout the co-op I compiled data to create and share presentations, offering my evidence-based recommendations to further the program's goals.

At Insulet, I supported the verification testing of a closed-loop automated insulin delivery system. This included drafting, executing, and documenting tests involving both the software and the hardware components of the system. One major component I conducted verification testing on was the battery life of the system, where 25+ tests were conducted in order to isolate and identify issues to support the systems engineering team. Throughout this role, I learned how to operate within a Quality Management System, how to properly document test reports, and time management skills to complete team goals. I also supported the training of 12 new co-ops at the end of my cycle.
