About Colby May

Colby May is entering his first year as Florida A&M assistant baseball coach. May serves as Florida A&M’s hitting coach and will assist with infielders. His additional duties include recruiting and camp coordinating. May was an assistant coach at Tallahassee Community College for three years (2018-2020). May served as the Eagles' outfield coach, and assisted with the hitters as well. He also serverd as the team's head of strength and conditioning. His additional duties included camp coordinating, facility operations, and recruiting. May helped TCC’s program get to 1,000 wins under Mike McLeod. Prior to joining the Eagles' staff, May was a graduate assistant on head coach, Greg Guilliams' staff at Valdosta State Univeristy from 2015-2017.  May served as the outfield and first base coach. He helped lead Valdosta State to an NCAA Division II regional berth in his second season. May began his coaching career at Bethlehem Christian Academy in Bethlehem, Ga., where he was head coach from 2013-2015. There, he guided his team to a state championship during his first year as a coach and a final four berth in year two. His stint at BCA also included two region championships. In addition to coaching, May has been active on the camp circuit, serving on the staff at Auburn, Georgia, Georgia Southern, Mississippi State and Vanderbilt.  May played collegiately at the University of Georgia from 2009-12 and appeared in 177 games over four seasons. As a freshman, he started all 62 games at third base and was named Freshman All-America and All-SEC while helping the Bulldogs to a berth in the Tallahassee Regional.  May played third base as a junior then moved across the diamond to first base for his senior season. May played in the 2011 NECBL Summer League in Keene, N.H., where he helped lead the Keene Swamp Bats to a NECBL Championship. Off the field, May earned a spot on the SEC Academic Honor Roll three times and was a member of Georgia's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. May received his undergraduate degree in Communication Studies from the University of Georgia in 2012. Also, May received a Masters in Education of Leadership with an emphasis in Administration and Student Affairs from Valdosta State University in 2017.
