Colby Reade is passionate about leveraging the power of thoughtful communication and storytelling to drive organizational impact. As the Vice President of Strategy and Communications at the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust, he leads internal and external communications strategies, oversees the foundation’s events team, and manages key operational and rhythm of business functions that align with the Trust’s mission of supporting nonprofits in the Pacific Northwest.His career journey that spans more than 20 years in media and strategic communications began as a journalist, where he honed skills in building relationships, managing dynamic teams, and crafting compelling narratives that resonate with broad audiences. He later transitioned into the world of Public Relations, gaining a diverse range of experiences serving as a private consultant and account manager at multiple award-winning agencies that shaped his strategic mindset. Joining the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust in 2017 as Director of Communications, he has progressed to Senior Director and now VP, where he continues to elevate communication initiatives and enhance organizational effectiveness as a member of the foundation’s leadership team.Colby holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Oregon Honors College and a Master’s degree from Georgetown University. His work has won numerous awards and his efforts have driven tangible results across the organizations he serves and those with whom they partner and support. He is driven by the goal of expanding impact within the organization to better serve the common good and a desire to integrate strategic communication with broader operational leadership to exponentially increase positive impact.
