I am a retired real estate finance lawyer. Prior to my retirement, I represented the nation’s leading financial institutions in complex real estate secured financings and in the resolution of problem loans. I assisted Bank of America, JPMorgan, Wells Fargo and other lenders in financing a variety of commercial properties, including shopping centers, hotels, office buildings, industrial properties, hospitals, and other health care facilities. My experience includes structuring, documenting, and closing secured and unsecured lines of credit and multi-property revolving credit facilities. In addition, I have acted as counsel to both senior and subordinate lenders in mezzanine loans and preferred equity financings.A primary focus of my practice included representing lenders in addressing troubled real estate secured loans. I have acted as counsel to lenders in a host of complex workouts, loan restructurings, discounted payoffs, bankruptcies and foreclosures. My experience extends to the field of public finance, where I have represented developers and the providers of credit enhancement in connection with the issuance of taxable and tax-exempt bonds that have been used to finance apartments, industrial facilities, hospitals, and major infrastructural improvements.I remain a member of the State Bar of California and the American Bar Association, and have written and spoken on numerous real estate and bankruptcy-related topics.
