I am pursuing a landscape architecture research and design project titled "Supporting Wetlands and Agriculture Along the Paraná River Through Landscape Design". I am researching how landscape designs can integrate wetlands, sustainable agriculture, and Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK) along the Paraná River. My project involves researching the history and ecology of the Paraná River, the influence of agriculture on the river, and how the river has influenced diverse cultures. I will be creating a design for a site connected to the Jaaukanigás Ramsar Site, a wetland with international importance, that incorporates wetlands, agriculture, and TEK. An objective for my project is to create a research-driven landscape design that will provide a framework for how landscape architecture projects can integrate wetlands, agriculture, and TEK to protect biodiverse ecosystems, mitigate climate change, increase food security, empower indigenous peoples, and support culturally and ecologically valuable traditional practices.

Focused on public park design, restoration and planting projects, and accessible trail design. Tasks included creating construction documents, master planning, making maps, monitoring plants, writing reports for projects, and applying for permits. Designed landscapes with California native plants and drought tolerant plants. Used different software programs including AutoCAD Civil 3D and ArcGIS.

Educate first-year students at UC Davis about sustainable horticulture and growing their own food. Oversee and help maintain an environmentally friendly urban garden located next to residence halls. Host programs that build community and teach students more about gardening. Create digital planting designs and work with students to implement the plans.

Work with a team to install drought tolerant gardens, a pollinator garden, and a native plant hedgerow near an agricultural site at UC Davis. Learn about wildlife ecology, sustainable landscape design, and environmentally friendly horticulture. Help with planting, installing irrigation systems, and maintaining sites. Acquired hands-on experience at EARTH University’s Periurban Farm, Tropical Crops Farm, and Integrated Organic Farm. Learned about different sustainable agricultural practices and how these practices can be implemented in other communities. Attended a sustainability class. Created an improved design for the Periurban Farm and three designs for sustainable farms in Davis that are inspired by the three farms that I interned at. Developed stronger Spanish communication skills. Worked with people from around the world and learned more about people’s experiences, cultures, and how they practice environmental sustainability.

As a Zero Waste Coordinator, I perform waste audits, which involves measuring how much trash was generated and how well the waste was sorted, in order to determine what can be done to reduce waste and encourage more people to sort their waste properly. I also reach out to other students to share the waste audit results with them, help organize engaging programs that focus on environmental sustainability and waste reduction, and inform students on how they can reduce waste.

I worked as a resident advisor for one of the Enviornmental and Agricultural Sustainability Education floors. As a resident advisor, I worked to foster an inclusive and welcoming community, I hosted programs that brought students together, I collaborated with campus organizations to plan programs, and I offered support and guidance to students.
