I have over 20 years international consultancy experience leading and delivering ‘international standard’ Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs), Environmental and Social Due Diligence (ESDD) and Lender’s Independent Consultant / Monitoring assignments to meet internationally recognised environmental and social performance standards (e.g. of the World Bank/IFC, Equator Principles, ADB, EBRD, RSPO etc). My experience is focussed on ‘Category A’ and ‘B’ investments in the oil and gas, transport, energy and heavy industry sectors and I have worked on several international flagship projects including Nam Theun II Hydropower scheme (Laos), the Gorgon Gas and Browse FLNG Developments (Western Australia) and the Eurasia Tunnel Project (Turkey). I have assisted my clients through transactions, obtain approvals to proceed, achieve financial close and then design, develop and implement their investments to achieve compliance with Lender and national requirements and deliver performance efficiencies. I have also developed environmental and social governance (ESG) systems, tools and legal frameworks. I was engaged for several years by the Mekong River Commission to develop and negotiate a mechanism to manage transboundary environmental and social impacts. Currently, I lead Arup’s UK-based team delivering ESDD services to commercial lenders, private equity investors, export credit agencies and international financial intermediaries. Our work covers infrastructure investments across Eastern Europe, Central Asia and Africa. Prior to this, I spent 13 years resident in Vietnam, Malaysia and Australia working across the South East Asia region. I have held team and national business unit leadership roles and have also successfully managed multi-million $ key client programmes. Outside work, I am married with two young boys. We are all keen travellers and enjoy experiencing new cultures and exploring the wonders of the natural world!
