About Colette Thomas

Colette Thomas is a filmmaker currently based in Nova Scotia. She produced the first Gaelic language series in North America: TGA. She won a collaborative EMMY AWARD for Outstanding Creative Achievement in Interactive Media for her work on the TV series, HIT RECORD. She completed the documentary FEIS AN EILEIN: FICHEAD BLIADHNA (Festival of the Island: Twenty Years) about the Gaelic cultural fesitval held annually in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia that aims to preserve and promote the Gaelic language and culture in Nova Scotia. She has worked for the BBC as a technical operator for both television and radio live programming, including, AN LA (news), FONN IS ARIA (music), TIOMPAN (music), and CATHRAIM CIUIL (music), among others. She has also worked as a production assistant, researcher, and/or writer for TAKE THIS WALTZ, THE FIDDLER'S REEL, LIFE OF RILEY, and ULAIDHEAN (Treasures). She was awarded grant funding through the Nova Scotia Department of Tourism, Cultue and Heritage to produce, write, and direct the theatrical play AS A' CHEO (From the Mist) and to create the documentary FEIS AN EILEIN: FICHEAD BLAIDHNA. Colette has a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from Dalhousie University and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Media from Sabhal Mor Ostaig after being selected into Sabhal Mor Ostaig's highly coveted Media program.
