BEST BUDDIES UK was launched at a conference in Stroud on October 17th 2014. The event was a collaboration of organisations and individuals who are passionate about friendship, relationships and inclusion with the overall goal of ‘PUTTING FRIENDSHIP AT THE TOP OF THE AGENDA’.Best Buddies® International is a non-profit network of organisations dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with learning disabilitiesBest Buddies was founded in 1989 and it has now become a vibrant, international organisation that has grown from one original chapter to almost 1,700 middle school, high school, and college chapters worldwide. Best Buddies programs engage participants in each of the 50 United States, and in 50 countries around the world. Best Buddies’ programs positively impact nearly 800,000 individuals with and without disabilities worldwide.

The National Brokerage Network (NBN) is a 'Network’ of Networks' that has been set up to act as an information exchange and an authoritative voice for the development of Brokerage throughout the UK.It aims to represent the views and interests of the diverse support broker movement with key politicians and policy makers.
