Complex problem solving, effective communication and coordination of efforts across multiple departments; Engineering, Technology, Finance and Strategy-Growth and Improvement. Travelled to Mumbai to deliver project solutions to the Indian Navy Captains and Submarine Pilots.Submarine Rescue Vehicle (SRV), Mobilisation Training Program: There is a limited window of opportunity for mating a SRV with a downed submarine, also known as a Time to First Rescue (TTFR).The equipment required for this operation must be mobilised and secured correctly before it can be operated at sea. Some examples of equipment requiring mobilisation are Diving Decompression Chambers (DDC), Submarine Rescue Vehicles (SRV), Hydraulic Power Units (HPU) and Diverless Launch and Recovery Systems (DLARS). I was tasked with producing this training manual and communicating directly with the Naval Architects to establish pre-engineering specifications.Snagging Lists and Re-Engineering: To identify and rectify issues with equipment malfunctions, re-engineering requirements, programming and training. Once an item has been flagged and assessed, the priority of the issue is stamped and distributed to a designated person to create a solution. My responsibility was the SRV battery packs which were 1.4 tonnes each and 4.1 meters long. Contractual obligations raised a need for the original design to be tweaked so that emergency battery replacements could be carried out at sea. This required study of the existing battery assembly, vessel specifications, and battery trim mechanisms to replace parts and re-design the assembly, disassembly and re-assembly procedures; allowing for the safe breakdown of these components in limited room on the SRV platform. After Contract ended, returned to education to pursue career in Renewable Energy Engineering.
Multiskilled Operative
Role required effective communication and coordination of efforts across all departments: Production, Technology and Engineering. Operations managed primarily via PLC (Programmable Logic Control). These operations were consolidated using SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisitions), requiring constant observation, diagnosis and troubleshooting to identify and resolve problems within a tight time frame.Carried out daily and hourly system specification checks to ensure all equipment and processes are operating within the parameters required to successfully carbonize the fiber. Constant observation, diagnosis and repair on a range of equipment including: large industrial furnaces ranging from 500 to 1500 degrees, surface treatment baths involving controlled currents through electrolytes (supported using controlled concentrations of Ammonium Bicarbonate, recirculation pumps and filters), solenoids and PID control measures, cooling water systems and pressure gauges.Maintaining extraction and pressure differentials to ensure all volatile gases that are produced during the carbonization processes are incinerated and treated before being allowed to enter the atmosphere. Ensuring compliance with environmental regulatory framework.Observation of trends, carrying out maintenance and raising work orders for repair or replacement. Solve issues during downtime to ensure all production lines are fully operational and suggesting updates for procedures, work instructions and testing.Corporate Compliance: experience gained working for a sizeable multinational organisation in all of the above has developed understanding of corporate requirements including the importance of processes, compliance and profitability.
