With a wide experience in the theory and practice of architecture, town planning, landscape as well as highway and transportation engineering, Colin founded the Public Realm Information and Advice Network (PRIAN) in 2007 with Robert Huxford to promote the design and maintenance of great streets.PRIAN has run a mid-career interdisciplinary short course since 2007 on the design and maintenance of streets. It leads to a qualification certified by the Institute of Highway Engineers.The course has included inspired contributions from leading exponents including John Adams (Emeritus Professor, UCL), Lynda Addison (Addison Associates), Rob Cowan (Urban Design Skills), John Dales (Urban Movement), Peter Heath (Atkins Global), Phil Jones (Phil Jones Associates), Alex Luck (A Luck Associates), Jean Morgan (Former Local Authority Chief Executive), Mike Morris (Civil Engineer), Anna Rose (Space Syntax), Mahmood Siddiqi (Director of Transportation, RBK&C) and Sam Wright (Traffic Design Manager, Transport for London) as well as the two co-founders Robert Huxford and Colin Davis.The essence of this interdisciplinary approach to street design is brought together in a new book Streetscapes to be published by the Royal Institute of British Architects in the spring 2017.
