I'm now working with the exciting and dynamic Sandstone. They believe in "intelligence not information" and have values and a culture that fit perfectly with myself. Really looking forward to combining my business coaching skills and physical training skills as part of the Sandstone performance team. I'm excited about the opportunity to offer the fitness services of P.H.I.T. to Sandstone and their clients, customers and ambassadors. And who knows, maybe I'll get involved in some of their insane challenges in the future.

Enthusiastic member of the 'Champions in Schools' programme. I create and deliver a series of presentations to groups of secondary school pupils promoting success through sustained effort. I work with young people to help them appreciate that although set backs happen the goal is to learn from them and improve. I advocate a healthy and active lifestyle in which they try their best at everything they attempt. Presentations and their delivery have to be varied, interesting and interactive to keep pupils engaged. In addition I design and initiate an activity component. This requires to be tailored to take account of the age demographic, fitness and perceived level of pupil interest.

In 2011 I was headhunted by the Scottish Rugby Union to establish Scotland Sevens as a high performance professional programme. Responsibilities included captaining the team and developing a culture and identity. As captain I played a major role in strategic planning towards the 2014 Commonwealth Games.I have developed skills in: • Leadership- ability to be creative and innovative yet have the clarity of thought and associated interpersonal skills to influence and inspire others to achieve their shared goals. • Motivation- pioneered processes to deal with setbacks, driven and determined to succeed.• Management and Communication- presentations to teammates, in the intense environment of competition and interacting with a diverse range of key decision makers, including sponsors, the SRU, officials and opposition.• Negotiation- communicating with management and ensuring players’ considerations are taken into account in planning of weekly schedules. • Teamwork- worked hard to develop a cohesive team with clear understanding of roles and responsibilities and ability to execute strategy.• Goal setting- set long-term and tournament specific goals for team and individual players. Chair monthly peer to peer meetings in which these are reviewed using 360 degree feedback.

Professional Rugby Player with Glasgow Warriors. After completion of my university studies (2004) I accepted a full-time contract to play professional rugby for Glasgow Warriors. I represented Glasgow in over 100 games including a spell as captain. I played in memorable away victories against Munster and at reigning European Champions Toulouse. During this time I represented Scotland 'A' on 9 occasions. I also regularly represented Scotland on the Sevens World Series displaying adaptability and the utmost professionalism to seamlessly play at the top level of both the sevens and the fifteens game. I left Glasgow Warriors in 2011 to concentrate exclusively on Scotland Sevens.Key skills developed include:• Commitment, dedication and discipline to help the team become successful through results on the pitch and achieve sustained success through the culture developed off the field.• Desire to continually self-improve and encourage others to do whatever it takes to be the best that we can be. • Adversity in defeat. Take positives from each defeat but also to stay humble in victory.
