For the 2023-2024 academic year, I will be the PGY-4 chief medical resident for the Indiana University Southwestern Internal Medicine Residency. This position involves responsibilities as a junior faculty hospitalist, educator, mentor, and program coordinator.

Independently assessed and managed patients in a predominantly Hispanic community under minimal supervision from head clinic physician.Performed retinal imaging, vaccinations, EKGs, DPN/ABI testing, DOT physicals, and sports physicals.

Carbone, Gius, Freeman laboratories - Undergraduate student researcher under the guidance of Ildiko Csiki, M.D.,Ph.D.Project entailed drug therapies to combat cancer stem cells.• Performed basic cell culture techniques required for the maintenance of non-small cell lung carcinoma lines (seeding, splitting, cryopreservation)• Assessed tumor formation probabilities of control and drug treated cell lines using the soft agar colony formation assay and clonogenic assay• Evaluated protein expression levels using the Western blot protocol• Received introductory training in the use of flow cytometry and RT-PCR• Certified to operate a Cs-137 irradiator-----------Lilianna Solnica-Krezel laboratory - Undergraduate student under the guidance of Seok-Hyung Kim, Ph.D.• Analyzed oligodendrocyte proliferation and differentiation defects in a zebrafish tsc2 mutant model (tuberous sclerosis model)• Trained in the proper care and maintenance of zebrafish lines and assembled mating crosses between transgenic zebrafish• Assisted in fish genotyping with DNA extraction, PCR, and gel electrophoresis• Aided in the preparation and staining of tissues using immunohistochemistry• Handled liquid nitrogen and prepared tissue sections via cryosectioning

• Directed a freshman dormitory consisting of approximately 200 students• Supervised a team of 5 resident advisors during weekly staff meetings and in one on one meetings to create engaging programs and a safe and healthy living environment in the dormitory• Nominated and selected to be a member of the campus-wide Residential Education Programming Committee• Organized and implemented several events that received “Program of the Month” nominations from the Residential Education department such as a “Fish for a Wish” fish sale fundraiser that generated over $1000 for the Vanderbilt GlobeMed organization• Collaborated with several on-campus organizations such as Alpha Epsilon Delta and the Vanderbilt Career Center to bring extracurricular opportunities to first year students• Served as a role model, mentor, and resource for first-year students and provided emotional and academic counseling for at-risk students• Confronted and resolved multiple situations involving residents in violation of the Student Conduct Code
